About Us

Our Story.

The Aireys Pub opened in 1904, decades before the construction of the Great Ocean Road. The Ash Wednesday fires of 1983 decimated Aireys Inlet and the Pub, but within a week a makeshift bar was up and running in the back shed pouring beers.

In 2011 the Pub closed its doors and the site was put on the market.  We couldn’t be the town with no pub, and we certainly couldn’t let the Aireys Pub be bulldozed and developed into a housing estate.  Not on our shift.  So we got some mates together, pitched in, and bought it. We’ve renovated and reinstated it as one of Australia's greatest coastal pubs.

Staying local.

In our naivety, when we bought the Pub we didn’t realise that most of the iconic Australian breweries had been sold to foreign interests.  So, when the big wigs waltzed in and told us what beers we β€˜had to have’ on tap in our Pub, we did what all good Australians should do. We told them to bugger off.

We put in our own on site brewery. Salt Brewing Co employs two full time brewers, it supports Australian farmers and Australian manufacturers. We don’t just make β€˜craft’ beer. We make genuine draught, crisp lagers, an epic stout and seasonal varieties. All our beers are premium quality, best shared with your mates, along with a good laugh and a good story.

Epic vibes.

Our beer garden is amazing. We have a large deck including a marquee undercover area and a huge grass area for the kids to run wild. The sunsets turn up right on cue every day, live music fills the bar every weekend, and an open fire roars on cold winter nights.  Our menu rolls with the seasons and offers delicious fresh food. We choose to support free range, ethical farming practices and sustainable seafood.

Everything friendly.

Not only are we good vibes and kid friendly, we're dog friendly too. So bring your furry friend along for your beach day out.

Nothing beats Australian owned and brewed.
